This course will build your confidence to interact with people in English. The course will focus on how you can help your family thrive in the UK. You will be able to improve your skills in reading, writing and speaking and listening in English conversations.
Course Summary:
This course will build your confidence to interact freely with people in English. The course will give you the opportunity to improve your written English- with regular written work being set as homework. It will also focus on developing your English speaking and listening skills.
Eligibility:
The course is free if you are over 19 years old, have lived in the UK for 3 or more years, and have a valid Residence Permit, and are one of the following: Unemployed or earning below £20,319 per year; Qualified below a Level 2 ( less than 5 GCSEs); Have mental health challenges, Have a learning difficulty or disability. It is also free for some other learners, contact fay.tucker@gloucestershire.gov.uk to check eligibility.
How will the course be taught?
Learning will take place in small friendly groups on Zoom. We will use a range of individual and group work, demonstration and discussion.
How will I know how well I am doing?
You will follow your own individual learning plan with progress recorded by tutors and yourself.
Prior Knowledge:
No prior knowledge required.
What do I need to bring?
You will need a phone, tablet or computer with access to the internet so that you can join the course on Zoom. It is also a good idea to bring a notepad and pen.

£70 or free to eligible learners
What course can I do next?
The tutor will be able to support learners with what they would like to do next. It may be progressing onto an Accredited Course or moving towards employment
Information and Advice for Progression:
Advice will be given on an individual basis throughout the course. Please talk to your tutor if you have specific aims. The course can lead onto further ESOL courses, including accredited classes.
Health and safety:
The tutor will advise on health and safety guidelines at the beginning of the course, these guidelines will be followed throughout the course.
